NEWARK – Newark police say excessive speed may have been a factor in a crash that killed two people early Monday morning.
Louis Lamar Harris, of Columbus, and Michael Russell McElroy, of Newark, were killed and a third man was hospitalized after the single-vehicle accident on Oakwood Avenue on the city’s east side, Newark Division of Police spokesman Sgt. Clint Eskins said.
Officers arrived on scene of the accident at 2:03 a.m. and found Harris, 33, and McElroy, 23, trapped inside the vehicle and Bradley Elswick, of Newark, outside the vehicle.
Newark Division of Fire and EMS transported Elswick, 35, to Licking Memorial Hospital. He was
taken to Grant Medical Center, Eskins said.
Harris and McElroy were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation at this time, Eskins said.
