COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Justin Meram and Kei Kamara scored and Columbus beat short-handed Toronto FC 2-0 in the Crew’s home opener Saturday night.
At the end of a scoreless first half, Toronto’s Justin Morrow was shown a red card after a hard tackle of Ethan Finley just outside the box.
Columbus took advantage of playing a man up quickly in the second half.
In the 57th minute, Finley’s perfect cross from the right flank found Justin Meram in the middle of the box and Meram calmly headed it past a diving Joe Bendik for a 1-0 lead.
