Crew 3, Red Bulls 1

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) – Aaron Schoenfeld scored twice and the Crew beat the New York Red Bulls 3-1 on Sunday to move in a third- place tie in the Eastern Conference.

The Crew (13-10-10) moved two points ahead of the Red Bulls (12-10-11) and into a tie with Sporting Kansas City. The No. 3 seed gets a first-round bye in the playoffs, and all three teams remain in contention with one game left. Next Sunday, the Red Bulls visit Sporting KC, and Columbus hosts the Philadelphia Union(4:00 p.m./Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).

Schoenfeld opened the scoring in the 17th minute and made it 3-1 in the 80th. Ethan Finlay added his 11th goal of the season in the 34th minute to give the Crew a 2-0 lead. Finley also had two assists.

Lloyd Sam scored for New York in the 58th minute.
