COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew SC is opening a new stadium in the fall and rolling out a new identity to go with it.
The team confirmed Monday afternoon that it is adopting new brand marks, including a new name for the MLS franchise: Columbus Soccer Club.

“The current direction of our Club and our city provides a natural time to examine our identity going forward…With the upcoming completion of our new, modern, dynamic stadium, our world-class OhioHealth Performance Center, and coming off an MLS Cup championship, our marks are aligned with where we are headed as a city and as an organization, Crew president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement.
The new teams crest and other logos recognize the team’s history and tradition, the “crew” name and the black-and-gold team colors, Bezbatchenko said.
The logo is shaped like the Ohio state flag with a white “C” in the middle of a black background, which team officials say represents “the Crew primarily and also Columbus.”
Now in its 26th season, Columbus SC is the first franchise in the MLS and are the 2020 MLS Cup Champions.
