Crew out of open Cup

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A pair of goals in extra time gave the Chicago Fire a 4-2 win over the Crew, which knocked Columbus out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the fifth round.

The match required 120 minutes Wednesday evening at Toyota Park.

Crew sub Jairo Arrieta tied the match at 1-1 with an acrobatic bicycle kick in the second half and Bernardo Anor put the Crew ahead 2-1, but Chicago evened the score with a goal in the 83rd minute.

Chicago found a pair of goals in the 92nd and 108th minutes to seal the victory.

The Crew returns to Major League Soccer action when they host FC Dallas for “Red, White and Crew” on Saturday at Crew Stadium (8:00 p.m. /Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
