Gyasi Zardes scored in his return from international duty to help the Crew to the win in a match slowed down by soggy field conditions and delayed for 40 minutes by inclement weather. After the delay, Zardes stopped from a full run and stepped back to create space in the penalty area to finish Robinho’s cross in the 39th minute.
Pedro Santos scored in the second minute to put the Crew (3-1-1, 10 pts.) on the scoreboard.
Columbus continues its home stand against the New England Revolution on Saturday (7:30 p.m./FOX Sports Ohio).
