COLUMBUS – After waiting more than a half-hour for the match to begin, Crew SC fans waited until five minutes into stoppage time for Columbus to even the score and take away a 3-3 draw with New York City FC before 18,000 soggy fans at MAPFRE Stadium Saturday night.
The start of the match was delayed by 40 minutes due to severe weather.
When it got underway, Columbus saw a 2-1 advantage slip away in the final 10 minutes as David Villa’s goals gave NY a 3-2 lead.
Ethan Finlay recorded his first regular-season brace of the 2016 campaign by converting a penalty kick in the 80th minute and tied the score on an unassisted goal in the 95th minute.
The Crew SC travels to Foxborough, Mass., to take on the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, BCSN2).
