Crew SC clinches MLS playoff berth

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC clinched a spot in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs by virtue of its 2-0 win over Toronto FC at BMO Field Saturday.

Ethan Finlay and Federico Higuain scored for Crew SC, which is assured of finishing no lower than sixth place in the Eastern Conference. This will be the team’s second trip to the post-season in as many seasons under Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.

The win against the Reds also earned the Crew the 2015 Trillium Cup rivalry series between the two clubs for the sixth time in eight seasons.

The remaining regular-season match will be at MAPFRE Stadium Sunday against D.C. United. The match will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1.
