Crew SC downs Montreal 3-1, returns to Eastern Conf. finals

COLUMBUS – Kei Kamara scored his second goal in the 111th minute and the Columbus Crew SC advanced to the MLS Cup Eastern Conference finals for first time since 2008 with a 3-1 victory over the Montreal Impact at MAPFRE Stadium on Sunday night.

The second-seeded Crew needed extra time to gain the 4-3 series edge and will face the Supporters’ Shield-winning New York Red Bulls for the conference championship. The first leg of the two-game series is in Columbus on Nov. 22.

Single-match tickets for the Nov. 22 game are now on sale as Home Match B and begin at $25. Tickets for a potential MLS Cup 2015 (Sun., Dec. 6) at MAPFRE Stadium go on sale Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. for Crew SC full season ticket members with general public on sale information for MLS Cup 2015 to be announced later.

Ethan Finlay tied the series score at 3-all and gave Columbus a 2-1 lead with a putback of Jack McInerney’s blocked attempt in the 77th minute.

It also forced an extra 30 minutes after the end of regulation time with each team scoring an away goal in the series.

The third-seeded Impact entered the second leg with a 2-1 lead in the aggregate score and held a 3-2 series lead after Dilly Duka tied it 1-all with a loose-ball finish in the 40th minute.

Kamara opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a diagonal run and header.
