Damage reported after storms

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Severe storms raced across central Ohio skies around sunset Tuesday night, bringing high winds that caused scattered damage and power outages.

The storms late Tuesday were part of a powerful weather system that spawned deadly tornadoes in the South.

Gusts as high as 75 mph tore a roof off a business in downtown Delaware and threw it onto a car parked on the street. Trees were knocked down trees in Dublin and Plain City.

Approximately 4,000 AEP customers lost power then winds knocked down power lines and lightning sparked utility pole fires. Downed tree limbs also closed a road in Delaware.

Winds picked up and flipped a mobile home in the community of Bellville in Richland County, south of Mansfield.

Heavy rain also led to flash flood warnings for parts of central and southeast Ohio early Wednesday.
