FORT MYERS, Fla. – Like the swallows to San Juan Capistrano or the buzzards to Hinckley, the return of the dancing firefighters to Ft. Myers is a sure sign of spring.
The firefighters from Cincinnati are back on duty at Fort Myers Beach, but they’re stirring up heat instead of putting out fires.
A group of almost two dozen firefighters from Cincinnati starting Monday will give daily afternoon beachside dance and lip-synching performances for the next 10 days to raise money for charity according to the News-Press.
It has become an annual tradition in Fort Myers Beach as the Cincinnati firefighters have been coming to perform on the beach for the past 29 years.
Last year, the firefighters raised more than $10,000 that was used to help purchase a vehicle to transport children in wheelchairs.
