COLUMBUS — Rutgers is next in line to try to slow down No. 3 Ohio State and hot-starting quarterback Justin Fields.
(3) OHIO STATE (2-0) vs. Rutgers (1-1)
Ohio Stadium; Columbus, OH
Sat., Nov. 7 (7:30 p.m./BTN)
With college football games being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Buckeye head coach Ryan Day says any game that gets played can feel like a sort of victory.
“It’s day to day for sure,” he told reporters this week, after Wisconsin cancelled its second game in a row due to a virus outbreak. “You hold your breath all week, you hold your breath day of.”
The Buckeyes have rolled over Nebraska and Penn State, neither of which could slow down Fields, a Heisman Trophy finalist a year ago. The junior has passed for 594 yards and 6 touchdowns while running for a seventh score in the Buckeyes’ first two games.
Rutgers has improved thanks to some key transfers coming in but will still come into Ohio Stadium for Saturday night’s game as five-touchdown underdogs.
The Scarlet Knights were beaten last week by Indiana after shocking Michigan State in the opener.
