COLUMBUS, Ohio – A bar fight turned deadly on the North Side early Saturday morning.
Tyquan Collins was shot to death at approximately 1:23 a.m. outside the Schrock Tavern, 1455 Schrock Road, shortly after a fight had broken out inside the bar and the participants had been ejected, Homicide Unit detectives said.
Regular duty and special duty officers working in the area heard a gunshot near the rear of the bar and saw Collins, 23, run across the rear parking lot and collapse on the pavement, investigators said.
Collins had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead about an hour later at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Police say their initial investigation indicated Collins was one of the people involved in an altercation inside the bar. A short time after security personnel ejected the people involved in the fight from the bar the shooting occurred.
There was no known suspect or motive early Saturday.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.
