Death penalty may be sought in student’s murder

COLUMBUS – Prosecutors are reportedly considering asking for the death penalty for the man accused of killing an Ohio State student last week.

Brian Golsby will appear in court today, charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and rape in connection with the death of Reagan Tokes, whose body was found Thursday near a park entrance in Grove City, according to a report from WBNS 10-TV.

The prosecutor says those charges make Golsby eligible for the death penalty under the Ohio Constitution, the station reported.

Police say they arrested Golsby, 29, after finding Tokes’ car near his Columbus residence and matching his DNA with evidence gathered in and around the car.

Tokes, 21, was last seen leaving work at a Columbus restaurant Wednesday night.

Tokes grew up outside Toledo and was a fourth-year psychology major at Ohio State.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.

Golsby pleaded guilty in 2011 to Franklin County robbery and attempted rape charges.
