COLUMBUS – Delaware County officials are working on a plan to expand the hiking and biking trails in the area and are ready to hear what residents think.

The Delaware County Trails Committee is seeking input from County residents for the Delaware County, Ohio, Trail System Master Plan. A public open-house meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Willis Education Center, 74 W. William St.
Created in 2016 by the Delaware County Board of Commissioners, the Delaware County Trails Committee is in the process of creating a network of local multi-use trails, walkways, bike paths and lanes and paved shoulders in conjunction with regional trail and parks systems and helping local governments find potential funding sources, said chair Jenna Jackson of the Delaware County Economic Development Department.
The master plan, which is the result of meetings with committee staff members and officials from city, village and townships, indicates that approximately 79 miles would be marked as “conceptual corridors” to accommodate new trails, paths and on-road routes.
The committee includes residents and representatives from the Delaware County Economic Development department, Delaware County Regional Planning Commission, Delaware County Engineer’s Office, Delaware General Health District, Delaware County Preservation Parks and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.
