Democrats in governor debate blame DeWine for Ohio’s woes

COLUMBUS – The two Democrats trying to unseat first-term Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine used their first primary debate to blame the governor and his party for overseeing years of corruption and decline across the state.

Ex-Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and former Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley blamed DeWine for enabling the $60 million statehouse bribery scheme and failing to pass meaningful gun reforms.

Cranley says Ohioans are falling behind most Americans because of the Republicans’ failed policies.

DeWine wasn’t around to defend himself after Republicans pulled out of plans for a debate ahead of the May primary.

A message seeking comment was left with his campaign.
