Dixon chosen to helm Columbus City Schools

COLUMBUS – A former high school principal is returning to the Columbus City Schools, this time in the district’s top job.

The Columbus Board of Education Thursday announced the unanimous vote approving the selection of Dr. Talisa Dixon as the next superintendent/CEO of Columbus City Schools.

She would be the 21st superintendent to lead the state’s largest school district since 1847.

Dixon is currently Superintendent of Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools.

She was previously the principal of Columbus Alternative High School.

After a background check and a contract negotiation it is hoped that Dixon will start around January 1, board president Gary Baker II said.

The board will continue to search for an interim superintendent to run the district until Dixon takes over, Baker said.
