Donaldson hits grand slam for Clippers

COLUMBUS — Newly acquired Josh Donaldson has hit a grand slam in his first game for the Clippers.

The former AL MVP was put on the disabled list earlier in the day, giving him more time to rehab a calf injury in the minor leagues.

The AL Central-leading Indians acquired Donaldson from Toronto on Friday.

He has been limited to just 36 games in the majors this year, and none since late May.

The Indians are hoping he can get healthy enough to help them in the postseason.

The 8-1 win over Toledo in the regular-season finale left the Clippers a half-game behind the International League West Division champion Mud Hens.
