COLUMBUS – Detectives have very little information to go on as they investigate the latest homicide in Columbus.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a shooting involving a 16-year-old girl and have released more information on the murder of a woman and an officer-involved shooting.
One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in the Reeb-Hosack neighborhood on the South Side early Friday, Homicide Unit Sgt. David Shimberg said.
Officers responding to a reported shooting at 2 Reeb Avenue at 12:41 a.m. found two victims inside the home.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was listed in critical condition at a local area hospital, Shimberg said. This incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE 2/10/9:23 a.m.: The homicide victim in this shooting has been identified as Fred Thomas, 28. The name of the second victim still has not been released.
This is the 25th homicide of the year in Columbus.
No witnesses were identified, and Shimberg says investigators have very little information about the shooting and are asking anyone with any information to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
A 16-year-old girl was in stable condition after being shot in the wrist when someone, possible riding in a dark SUV, fired several gunshots into a home in the 1500 block of Briarwood Avenue just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday, according to Det. Frank Miller of the Felony Assault Unit.
A 33-year-old man who was shot early Saturday in Franklin Park died of his injuries Thursday afternoon.
The man, identified as Marcus Peterson, was found in the street in front of a home in the 1600 block of Oak Street just before 12:30 a.m. Jan. 30 and died Thursday at Grant Medical Center, Shimberg said.
This was the 24th homicide of 2021 in Columbus.
The death of a woman who was found shot on the Northeast Side Sunday morning has been ruled a homicide. Keshawna Ximines, 26, was found on Bufflehead Drive just before 8:25 p.m. Saturday and died Sunday morning at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, the 22nd in Columbus in 2021.

The Division of Police has released the names of two officer involved in a shooting that left a man injured this week.
Officers Jason Fischer and Greg Lindsey, both 20-year veterans, opened fire on a man Tuesday afternoon as he ran away from a home on Homestead Drive where a shooting has been reported, division spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua said.
Police executed a search warrant and found drugs and cash at the home, Fuqua said
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
