COLUMBUS – A man died early Thursday after being shot from an alley while he was driving on a South Linden street, police said.
Officers found Robert Fleming in a vehicle in the 1300 block of E. 23rd Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
Investigators say they believe Fleming, 43, was driving westbound on E. 23rd Avenue, west of Cleveland Avenue, when an unidentified gunman fired at his vehicle from the alley, hitting Fleming with at least one round, before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction, Strayer said.
The suspect is still at large and at the investigation continues.
This is the 91st homicide of the year in Columbus.
