COLUMBUS, Ohio – Plans for a major facelift on the banks of the Scioto River in Dublin took a big step forward Tuesday when the City Council approved preliminary plans for the 30.9-acre Bridge Park development on the east side of the river, north of state Route 161.
However, the developers were asked if they could get their architects to generate a bit more “wow factor” from the homes and businesses planned for the area.

The project, which is part of the 1,100-acre, $300 million Bridge Street Area plan, calls for 371 housing units and 260,000 square feet of commercial development. Construction could begin as early as this spring and be completed in the summer or fall of 2016, but the developers are still awaiting the approval of their final development and site plans, public affairs officer Sue Burness said.
Crawford Hoying Development Partners spent more than three hours on presentations, discussions and public comments at a special meeting of City Council.
The next step in the process is approval by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission, Burness said.
