COLUMBUS – The confusion that will greet motorists in the Dublin area Friday morning is a sign of progress, according to state transportation officials who say the addition of lanes and a new ramp to help drivers coming in from Post Road, Muirfield or Marysville enter I-270 means the massive project is nearing completion.
See illustration and more details below.
The $68 million construction at the I-270 and US 33 interchange in Dublin began in spring 2015 and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017 (see artist’s rendering above). It is intended to eliminate the weaving and merging that was necessary under its old configuration.
Ohio Department of Transportation officials say the biggest change motorists will notice during the Friday morning commute is there is one ramp, not two, to access the Outer Belt in both directions and four travel lanes just after the Avery-Muirfield entrance ramp.
There are also new, large overhead signs directing motorists to the proper lane assignment.

US 33 east from Avery-Muirfield Dr. to southbound I-270: Stay in the far right two lanes
To northbound or eastbound on I-270 (towards Sawmill Parkway): Stay in the two middle lanes. The two-lane ramp crosses I-270 and under U.S. 33 before merging in with I-270 north. On the ramp, there are three lanes: Far left to Sawmill Rd. Far right lane goes to Tuttle Crossing Blvd. Middle lane north OR south.
To continue on US 33 into old Dublin: Stay in left two lanes. (Permanent traffic signal for US 33 east of I-270 for through traffic and drivers exiting I-270 to enter Dublin).
