COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A grand jury has indicted a central Ohio man on charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after police say the car he was driving struck and killed a tow-truck driver working on the side of the road in September.
The Franklin County grand jury indicted Brian Spencer, 31, on two counts each of aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He is also charged with a single count of felony drug possession.
Police say Spencer was driving the car that struck John Carpenter on the side of state Route 104 on Sept. 22. Carpenter, 59, was preparing to tow a vehicle. Police say he was dead at the scene.
