COLUMBUS – An 86-year-old woman shot several times while she was standing at the door of her East Side home early Thursday is expected to recover.
Sadonia Sanders told officers she heard some noises coming from the back of her house in the 1400 block of Coburg Road just after midnight and when she went to the back door to see what was making the noise, someone fired four or five gunshots into her house, striking her several times, according to Det. Bob McCotter of the Felony Assault Unit.
Officer who arrived at the home at approximately 12:16 a.m., found Sanders lying on the floor inside the house with a gunshot wound to her upper right chest and her right hand.
She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and McCotter says she is expected to survive.
