COLUMBUS – Rain dampened attendance at the 2018 Ohio State Fair but the event still saw a jump over the 2017 edition when a deadly accident on a midday ride may have dampened enthusiasm.
The fair concluded its 12-day run on Sunday with an estimated attendance of 908,306 which is a 13 percent increase over last year.
“Our attendance is always very weather-dependent. We usually see a slight dip in our attendance with rough weather, and the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday of this past week was no exception,” general manager Virgil Strickler said.
This year’s attendance was the fourth-highest for a 12-day fair.
