Fall classes begin at OSU

COLUMBUS – Tuesday is the first day of classes for thousands of students at Ohio State.

Fall semester begins with in-person learning, though class sizes have been reduced to a maximum size of 50 students to allow for social distancing, mask requirements and expanded testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.

Under a plan unveiled this summer, in-person classes will continue until Nov. 25 and distance learning will continue until Dec. 11.

The university has issued interim suspensions to more than 200 students for violating guidelines to stem the spread of coronavirus on campus.

A university spokesman says the suspensions are primarily related to off-campus parties and social distancing violations.

The 228 students must reportedly leave campus while their disciplinary cases are pending.
