Falling branch kills Columbus hiker in state park

LOUDONVILLE (AP) — Authorities say a Columbus woman died after she was struck by a fallen branch in a state park.

The incident happened Sunday as Shelley Miller, 57, explored Mohican State Park.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says Miller was hiking along the Hemlock Gorge Trail when the branch came down.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

Officials are investigating the incident.
