Fatal fire investigated as possible homicide

COLUMBUS – A deadly fire in a Northeast Side duplex is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Columbus police homicide investigators and arson investigators from the Division of Fire are working to determine what caused a fire early Thursday, which left a 36-year-old woman dead, police and fire officials said.

Firefighters called to the scene of the fire at 2664 Wedge Street at approximately 12:15 a.m. searched the interior of the home and found Laura Anderson, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Battalion Chief Steve Martin said.

Arson investigators will determine the cause and origin of the fire while the Franklin County Coroner’s Office and Homicide Unit detectives will determine the cause of Anderson’s death, authorities said.
