COLUMBUS (AP) — Police say a man was shot and killed during an attempted robbery as he was leaving a Northwest Side restaurant with his wife and their six children.
It happened just before 6:30 Friday evening in a busy parking lot, Sgt. Christ Holzhauser of the Homicide Unit said.

Shueyb Abukar, 40, and his family were leaving a Golden Corral restaurant at 3710 W. Dublin-Granville Road after eating there and hadn’t even gotten to their vehicle when the gunman approached them, Holzhauser said.
Holzhauser says Abukar was shot in front of his family in what appears to be a random robbery attempt. He says police don’t believe the shooter knew the victim.
Abukar was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say the gunman fled in a tan four-door sedan. Officers are searching for the shooter and his getaway driver.
