COLUMBUS – A 27-year-old man has been charged with assault, domestic violence and child endangering for striking his 3-year-old son multiple times in an incident caught on a surveillance video camera at a South Side grocery store last week.
Robert Lee Slocum turned himself in at a church in the Linden area Wednesday after seeing the video, which had been shared by Columbus police on the division’s social media pages, Det. Andre Edwards, of the Special Victims Bureau said.
Edwards says four children, all younger that 8 years of age, were found to be in good health and were placed with Franklin County Children Services.
The children’s mother was also present and went inside the store with the father and the rest of the children while leaving the younger child alone in the vehicle, Edwards said. The mother was not charged.
