Fire damages vacant apartment

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Investigators were out early this morning, trying to determine what caused a two-alarm fire in a vacant apartment on the Southwest Side.

The fire was reported at 3:27 a.m. in an apartment at 4228 Lincoln Park Court in Franklin Township, which fire officials say was scheduled for demolition. It was contained after about 90 minutes.

A reported 80 firefighters responded to the scene and went into a defensive stance for safety reasons.

The fire damaged the attic of two units in the building, Battalion Chief Tracy Smith said.

Smith says no one was injured.
