First flakes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first measurable snowfall made the morning commute a little slow, now cold weather will remind central Ohioans that winter is not far off.

About one inch of snow was recorded at Port Columbus and other central Ohio airports, enough to dust the grass and make roadways wet and bridges and overpasses slippery, even though road crews were out all night, salting the pavement.

Icy conditions forced several school districts to delay the start of classes.

High temperatures today will reach the mid-30s with slowly decreasing clouds but wind chills will stay in the 20s all afternoon, about 20 degrees colder than the average high for today.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect for northeast Ohio until midnight with up to eight inches of snow possible in some areas by tonight.
