COLUMBUS – A former Franklin County corrections officer was sentenced in federal court Thursday more than eight years in prison for receiving child pornography.
As part of his sentence, Daniel Heintz, of Columbus, was also ordered to pay more than $50,000 in restitution to victims depicted in the images.
Heintz, 39, was charged in February 2021 after he discussed sex with children with an Illinois man and exchanged images depicting child pornography.
According to court documents, authorities were alerted to messages sent by Heintz on Kik Messenger in mid-August 2020.
Heintz received sexually explicit videos from the man of a girl 13 to 15 years old, authorities said.
