COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A funeral service has been set for a central Ohio soldier killed last month in Afghanistan.
Residents of Grove City — hometown of 27-year-old Army Spc. Joseph Riley — lined the motorcade route Wednesday after his body was transported from a Columbus airport.
Riley was killed Nov. 24 along with another soldier in Kabul.
A visitation is planned for Friday at First Baptist Church of Grove City, followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Riley was a football standout and graduate of Grove City High School. He graduated from Capital University before enlisting in the Army in June 2012.
He was attached to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
