COLUMBUS, Ohio – The accused leader of one of Columbus’s most feared street gangs was shot to death by law enforcement authorities at a South Side apartment complex early Tuesday morning, according to media reports.

The reported ringleader of the Short North Posse drug-trafficking ring was shot and killed in a gun battle this morning after law enforcement confronted him at a South Side apartment.
Jermonte Fletcher, 33, died after firing at officers who had come to arrest him at the Indian Meadows apartment complex on Buffalo Court shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to 10-TV News and The Columbus Dispatch.
Three Columbus police officers (working on behalf of the U.S. Marshals) were involved, and two of them fired at Fletcher, 10-TV reported.
One of the Columbus police officers was injured following the confrontation. He was apparently injured on the staircase as he tried to remove a child from the scene, the station reported.
