Gang members arrested

COLUMBUS – Police say they have arrested 13 members of a gang they say was responsible for violent crimes on the West Side during a weeklong roundup of suspects.

The members of the BL-800 gang — which stands for “Bantu Life” — after being indicted on 84 state felony charges, ranging from receiving stolen property to murder, according to a release from the Columbus Division of Police.

The roundup of suspects, which began on Oct. 4 and concluded on Tuesday, was the culmination of an 18-month investigation and was dubbed Operation Mind Your Manors, a reference to a Sullivant Avenue carry-out the gang members frequented, authorities said.

The operations was carried out by officers from the Columbus Division of Police, along with assistance from the ATF Task Force and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
