Gas pains

COLUMBUS – Gas prices are rising just as fast as they can change the numbers on the signs at the convenience stores.

β€œThe national average [is] up 48.3 cents in the last week to $4.09 a gallon,” said GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan.

The auto club AAA says the average price jumped 16 cents overnight to $3.99 a gallon Tuesday morning amid growing calls to ban imports of Russian oil following the invasion of Ukraine.

Nationwide, gasoline prices are the highest that American motorists have faced since July 2008.

Prices at the pump were rising long before Russia invaded Ukraine and have spiraled faster since the start of the hostilities.
