Gas price falls 15 cents since last week

COLUMBUS – Central Ohio gas prices dropped 15 cents since last Monday and are back at the level where they were two weeks ago.

The average retail price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Columbus Monday morning was $2.68, more than a dollar cheaper than the price motorists were paying at the same time last year, according to a daily survey by the AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX, Inc.

The statewide average price of $2.73 was below the national average of $2.79.

Pump prices climbed higher during the week of June 8-12, even though many market experts continue to believe that gas prices are nearing a seasonal high due to the completion of seasonal refinery maintenance and abundant crude oil supplies, according the auto club’s public relations manager, Michael Green.
