Gas price jumps

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It was fun while it lasted.

About two weeks ago, drivers in Columbus were paying less than $2 per gallon for regular gasoline but those were the good old days.

The average price in central Ohio jumped 4 cents overnight to $2.30 Thursday morning, 15 cents higher than the rest of the country. According to the daily survey from the AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX, Inc. That is 47 cents higher than the average price a month ago and 17 cents higher than last Thursday.

Analysts have been predicting a rise in gas prices because of a slowdown in production and the shutdown of some refineries for regular maintenance.

Ohio’s statewide average price has risen to $2.27 per gallon.
