Gas price rebounds

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gas prices in central Ohio are up a few cents to start the work week after plunging to two-year lows seven days ago.

A gallon of regular gas was averaging $3.07 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s 9 cents more than a week ago, but 8 cents less than last month at this time and 32 cents lower than a year ago.

The average price in Ohio dropped 30 cents between Sept. 13 and Oct. 13, sixth-highest drop in the country, according to the auto club.

Analysts say gas prices will likely remain low amid decreased demand and falling crude oil prices, which are at their lowest level in nearly two years.

Many stations in the Columbus area were selling gas for as low as $2.80 a gallon, according to the website ColumbusGasPricescom.

The Columbus average is lower than the national average, which was $3.10 Monday. That’s a dime less than a week ago and about a quarter less than a month ago.
