Gas price remains low

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gas prices dropped below the $3 a gallon mark Saturday and they are still there.

A gallon of regular gas was averaging $2.95 in Columbus Monday morning, according to a survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That is up 4 cents from the price a week ago but is 24 cents cheaper than On Oct 3.

The statewide average is up about a penny from a week ago but is about 31 cents cheaper than at this time last year.

The national average was $2.98 Monday after prices fell more than 30 cents during the month of October. That’s 6 cents less than a week ago and about 37 cents less than a year ago at this time.

AAA expects gas prices to remain low through the end of the year.
