The average price of $2.08 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline in Columbus Monday morning was 13 cents cheaper than last week, according to a daily survey from the auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX, Inc. The price was 16 cents lower than what it was in 2016.

Ohio’s statewide average of $2.09 was 12 cents cheaper than last year and well below the national average of $2.23.

February of this year was the last time the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was this low nationally, according to AAA analysts, who credit record refinery rates, high gasoline and crude inventory, and less-than-favorable demand for contributing to the downward price trend.
