COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gas prices in central Ohio have backed off from a pre-holiday spike as the first full work week of 2014 begins.
The average Monday morning was $3.26 for a gallon of regular gas in the survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s down 16 cents from last week.
ColumbusGasPrices.com reports prices around the region run from $3.09 a gallon in southwest Columbus to $3.49 in Upper Arlington.
The statewide average was $3.29 – down 11 cents – and the national average was $3.32, up a penny from last week.
The Ohio average is a nickel higher than a month ago, and 8 cents higher than this time last year.
The lowest average gas price in the state Monday was $3.21 in the Toledo area.
