Gas prices lowest since July

COLUMBUS – Gas prices have plummeted in the last three weeks to their lowest levels since mid-summer.

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Columbus Monday morning was $2.13, 14 cents cheaper than a week ago and the lowest price since July 217, according to a daily survey by the auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX, Inc.

The price has dropped 40 cents since Sept. 4, when it spiked due to supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Harvey hitting the Gulf Coast.

With pipelines resuming operations as of late, AAA analysts say motorists are seeing gas prices tumble and, as gasoline demand drops-off with the arrival of fall, prices could reach the lowest of 2017, analysts say.

Drivers in the nation’s mid-section have enjoyed the most dramatic price declines in the nation over the past few weeks, the auto club reported.

The statewide average price of $2.27 in Ohio Monday was 10 cents less than the previous Monday and the national average price of $5.57 was down 5 cents.
