Gas prices rise again

COLUMBUS – The average cost of gas for central Ohio drivers has increased for the second consecutive week from the previous Monday but is significantly cheaper than it was a year ago or even a month ago.

The average retail price for a gallon of regular gas in Columbus was about $2.34 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc.

That’s 10 cents more than a week earlier and slightly higher than the statewide average. But it’s down 39 cents from a month ago, after prices temporarily spiked because of a partial shutdown at a refinery.

Ohio’s statewide average price was $2.29, the same as the national average, and 7 cents lower than last week. A year ago, the state average was $3.20.

The national average was down from about $2.33 a week ago and $3.34 at this time last year.
