COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police say a five-year-old girl escaped injury during a deadly double shooting over the weekend.
Detectives say two armed men broke into an apartment at1352 Terrace Lane just after 10:00 p.m. Saturday and tried to hold up Lamont Quarterman, who lived there.
One of the suspects shot Quarterman, 28, in the upper body and Tyrone Hilton, 50, was shot as the two made their getaway, investigators said.
Hilton was pronounced dead at the scene and Quarterman was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
A five-year-old girl who was in the apartment during the incident was unharmed, police said.
One of the men is described as a male black, with a light complexion, in his mid- to late-20’s, 6’0”, with a goatee and wearing a dark blue hoodie.
The second suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, in his early 20’s, 5’8”, wearing a red hoodie.
This is the 36th homicide of 2014 in Columbus.
