COLUMBUS, Ohio – A computer malfunction at the Franklin County Board of Elections delayed in-person voting Monday morning for about an hour, spokesman Ben Piscitelli said.
A slowdown caused a delayed the retrieval of voter registration data, needed to make sure that ballots for the correct precincts are loaded into the electronic voting machines for each voter, Piscitelli said.
No votes were lost but he said there were about 50 to 100 people waiting in line at one point after problems were first reported at about 9:40 a.m.. Piscitelli says the system was back to full speed by 10:50 a.m..
The board’s offices at 1700, Morse Road are open for early voting until 2:00 p.m. Monday.
Piscitelli says the glitch will have no impact on voting Tuesday at local polling places where registrations are listed on paper in poll books.
