INDEPENDENCE (AP) — LeBron James could soon be immortalized in his hometown.

A GoFundMe account has been started with a goal to raise $1 million to build and erect a life-size statue of James in Akron.
The three-time NBA champion says he is touched by the gesture and does not have any preference on how he would be depicted.
The campaign’s organizer has reached out to an artist who has designed statues for NBA greats Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and others.
