Golf in the interactive age

COLUMBUS – For the 42nd time since 1976, the attention of the golfing world is drawn to Dublin and the Memorial Tournament.

In addition to following the action on television, fans at the course can find a variety of ways to share their experience and stay in touch with what is going on beyond the fairways.

According to the City of Dublin, the O’Shaughnessy Bridge is limited to one-way eastbound traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily during the tournament. Police are asking drivers to use Dublin Road or Sawmill Road as the primary routes to tournament parking.

The city and Uber have teamed up to offer patrons $10 off an Uber ride to or from the tournament if they use the following daily promotional codes:

Historically one of the best fields on the PGA Tour, past Memorial winners account for a combined 67 major championship titles. This year’s field include seven of the world’s top 10 golfers.

With more than 18 hours of live television coverage, more than 400 million households are expected to follow the tournament while the spotlight shines on Dublin and the rest of central Ohio.

Visitors can access the tournament’s website on any device and all platforms. The site will carry the latest news, comprehensive Tournament information and links to live scoring.

The tournament’s official smart-phone app for iPhone, iPad, and Android gives fans access to an interactive course map with “take me there” navigation, push notifications, updates, course and player overviews, even a trivia contest. The PGA’s official app offers live scoring, video and PGA TOUR Radio.

Sponsors are using mobile devices to keep their guests informed on what is happening on the course and in their hospitality venues.

Do’s and Don’ts for mobile phone use at the Memorial Tournament:
Phones must be in silent mode at all times.
Phone calls may be placed or received in event-approved designated “cell phone safe zones” only
Devices may NOT be used to capture audio or video at any time
During practice and pro-am rounds, still photography is permitted.
Still photography is NOT permitted at any time during competition

Violators will have their device confiscated until their departure and violations may result in immediate removal from the tournament.
