GPS foils theft

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A couple of burglars were outwitted by 21st Century technology, according to Hilliard police.

Dale Foughty Jr., 36 (above left), and John Sampson II, 32 (above right), were arrested Tuesday night after officers used GPS trackers to follow them and the swag they had allegedly stolen from some apartments under construction, according to a post on the Hilliard police Facebook page.

Police say the two broke into apartments under construction in the LC Brooklands on Britton Parkway and. loaded up a stolen U-Haul with stolen appliances.

They made their escape without knowing that the Hilliard Division of Police uses GPS technology to track items susceptible to theft.

They were arrested in Columbus by Columbus and Hilliard officers.
